Size: 14 5/8 by 18 1/2 inches. Signed N. Turner lower right front, signed et dated 2008 on the reverse, title on reverse. Indian Ink on 180 gram paper from a novel titled "Le Char d’Aphrodite" (The Flesh of Aphrodite), by Max Meriel. The book’s story is based on the life of Phryne, a woman who lived in ancient Greece and was famous for her beauty. It is said that while being tried for her life, she stood up in the courtroom and exposed her breasts, at which point the judges were so moved by her beauty that they set her free. The book was Illustrated by Georges Bronner. Editions (Published by) Jacques Dervyl, Collections of the Parthenon, Paris, France, copyright 1956. This is a rare, out of print book purchased at an auction in Nice. Four pages were used as a background for an original painting. The pages of the book were uncut by the printer, allowing the four pages to be removed and used as one large sheet of paper. Only 500 copies of the book were printed. This copy is number 122.
