Man and child

The child in this photograph is wearing leggings as well as a fur-trimmed coat and hat and so is well protected against the weather, whatever it might be. The photograph was taken outdoors to ensure good light and a reasonably fast exposure.

This is a black and white photograph of a man sitting in an armchair holding a male child upon his knee. The seat is positioned outdoors and the child has been dressed warmly.

Bielside House was the home of the Annandale family from the middle 1860s and several generations made it their home. The family owned, amongst others, the nearby Beltonford Paper Works, which was in operation until 1892.
