Gardening Trophy

This trophy was part of the presentation ware accumulated by Tranent and District Horticultural Society and was competed for by the membership every year.

This is a small cup, urn or trophy made of silver plate. It is secured to a black plastic plinth by a screw fixture. The cup has two thin handles and an inset, slightly domed lid rising to a pointed finger grip. It is inscribed TRANENT & DISTRICT HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY YOUNG CUP.

Tranent and East Lothian in general are not untypical in having a number of societies active in the community. Their numbers vary with time but usually include common sports and pastimes. Many of the Societies accumulate presentation ware from members or sponsors.

You're welcome! We are happy for the material we have put up on Flickr to be creatively re-used in this way.
