About Us

Welcome to the blog of East Lothian Council Museum Service. We use our blog to write about the day to day life of working in a small local-authority museum service. We are based to the east of Edinburgh in Scotland, UK.

We currently have the following museums:

We have 2 museums open – Prestongrange and John Muir’s Birthplace.

We have 2 being renovated - Dunbar Town House and North Berwick.

We have 2 new museums opening in the next few years – John Gray Centre and Musselburgh Museum

You will no doubt hear us talk about all these different museum on our blog! We also have our offices and Museum Store in Haddington at Museum HQ, where most of our permanent staff are based.

I attended the fantastic Multi Cultural Day at the Prestongrange Museum last year with my family. I found that the cafe are was very busy and queing times were long for food and drinks. I wonder if you would consider using my healthy pasta and panini catering van for this event? I live in Tranent and interestingly my grandfather worked in the office of the mine many years ago. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
