Catherine Blair, a local suffragette, chained herself to railings at Preston Lodge High this week to celebrate International Women’s Day. Assisted by Elsie Inglis, a Suffragist, the two women led the History Club on a march around the school at lunchtime on Tuesday 8th March.
The History Club also created a display about inspirational women throughout history which was displayed in the reception area beside a display case, provided by the Museum Service, showing the objects which have changed the lives of women in the past 100 years.
It was a great day all round! Thanks to Mrs Todd and the History Club and Mrs Morris and Mrs Duthie in the History Department for letting Suffragettes take over the school for the week.
