Church Street, looking south

The first developed area in Tranent was Church Street which runs north-south, parallel to the Heugh and leading to Cockenzie in the north. To the east of Church Street, several streets of speculative and coal company housing were formed as featured in this southward view of Church Street with the turn into Coal Neuk on the right and Fowlers Street opposite.
