High Street

This photograph looking eastwards along the High Street was taken after 3rd May 1913, as it shows the new facade of The Crown Hotel. An additional storey was added, complete with steeple roof and topped by a weather cock. The large group of men standing by the side door is probably waiting for the public bar to open.

Further down High Street the two storey building with the bow front is the Post Office before it moved to Civic Square. Opposite, the building with the ornamental lantern is the Robertson Hall, previously a Day Centre for senior citizens, now a Solicitors' practice. In the background is the junction of the High Street with the road to Ormiston.
