Tranent Methodist Church

Situated on the north side of Bridge Street, Tranent Methodist Church was built in 1870, costing £583 9s. 3d. Apparently, well lighted and ventilated the building seats 250 people, despite the membership only numbering 17, and attendance at worship averaging 60. 1958 alterations saw the sanctuary reduced by half, resulting in a larger hall used for work with young people and children, as well as concerts, miners' meetings and social gatherings. Mr. George Ross, after whom Ross High School is named, was a life-long member of the church and a local preacher for many years.
