Free Church Communion Roll, July 1849

The roll includes communicants in Portobello and Prestonpans as well as Tranent, and is divided into two district lists (I and II).

The women on the list are mostly known by their title Mrs, Miss or Widow. The men are listed by their first and last names, except for Mr Simpson and Mr Seymour, which may indicate their higher social status, and Dr Watson. The females whose first names are given may be young girls - those named Miss being older unmarried women.
