Ongoing Volunteering
East Lothian Museums are currently looking for volunteers to assist with a number of projects across the service.
Current projects our volunteers are involved with include:
- Cataloguing our extensive postcard collection
- Researching the history of Coal Mining at Prestongrange
- Accessioning recently donated objects
- Auditing and researching our coin collection

Our Collections
Our collections comprise some 25,000 items, ranging from steam locomotives to fine art, and including local archaeology, ceramics, textiles and costume, natural history specimens, as well as objects illustrating domestic, working and community life. Of particular importance are the Cornish Beam Engine at Prestongrange Museum, the Haddington Weavers and Craighall Friendly Society banners and a collection of stone anchors. We will be able to offer you the chance to learn new skills, to gain work experience within the museum sector, and to meet new people.
