Upcoming Events and Exhibitions
‘East Lothian and the Transatlantic Slave Trade’ will run at Prestongrange between 28th March 2009 – 31st October 2009.
This exhibition will explore the links that East Lothian as a County had with the Transatlantic Slave Trade. It will focus on the Wedderburn family at Inveresk and their slaving connections, through the stories of slaves, Robert Wedderburn and Joseph Knight. It will also explore the parallels between the lives of Scottish Miners and Chattel Slaves. Part of the exhibition will be a tent, produced by artist Ettie Spencer and P6 pupils from the Prestonpans Cluster of schools, which reflects upon prejudice, racism and the idea of ‘home’.
Check our Events and Activities page for further details of our events programme.
